Alice in Wonderland Like Never Before at Capitol Theatre in Yakima

Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland was released in 1865. It has been translated into 174 languages and inspired hundreds of adaptations in practically every performing-arts medium. Alice will be performed by the dance company MOMIX at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima on Thursday and Friday, May 4 and 5, starting at 7:30 p.m.

In each new place, Alice meets exotic creatures, and she experiences absurd versions of everyday activities. Her journey and the iconic characters are perfect for one more adaptation — this one by Moses Pendleton, founder and director of MOMIX. In Alice, this trip down the rabbit hole is magical, mysterious, fun, eccentric and so much more.

MOMIX has been presenting works of exceptional inventiveness and physical beauty since 1981. With nothing more than light, shadow, props and the human body, MOMIX has astonished audiences on five continents over four decades.

For Alice, your imagination is essential, and you may wish to reacquaint yourself with the story in some form beforehand. As with all dance performances, the medium is movement, not words. Your interpretation is every bit as valid as that of the choreographer.
