Capitol Theatre in Yakima Presents The Buddy Holly Story – Sept. 30-Oct. 1, 2022
Kicking off a brand new Capitol Best season on Sept. 30 at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima is Buddy: the Buddy Holly Story. All your favorites Holly tunes are included: “That’ll Be the Day,” “Peggy Sue,” “It’s So Easy to Fall in Love” and many more.
Long before Mamma Mia, Jersey Boys and Rain, Buddy was the first jukebox musical, with a premiere in London’s West End in 1989 and on Broadway in 1990. It’s a book musical, not a revue or tribute show. The cast includes a dozen singers, actors and dancers who play their own instruments.
Although his career was tragically cut short, in less than seven years his music influenced Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello and Elton John, to name but a few.
Special thanks to John I. Haas, Red and Carolyn Ramsey, and other Capitol Best sponsors who help make programming at the Capitol dynamic and affordable.
Performances are Friday and Saturday, Sept. 30, and Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m.
Subscription tickets are still available for the entire Capitol Best Series, as well as single tickets for both performances of Buddy!. Buy online at capitoltheatre.org or call the box office at (509) 853-ARTS (2787).
