CBC Arts Center Presents Entertaining March Events

March is here and the Arts Center at Columbia Basin College is prepared to offer you a variety of events to choose from.

The time is here for the end-of-the-quarter music concerts featuring CBC students and community ensembles. On March 7, the Concert Band will play at Kennewick High School’s Art Fuller Auditorium. March 14 is CBC’s Orchestra and Choir night, and March 16 is Jazz Night. Both concerts will be in the CBC Theatre on campus beginning at 7 p.m. and are free to the public.

The Community Lecture Series welcomes a presentation by sociology professor Jennifer Sherman on March 23 at the Richland Public Library. Her presentation is titled “Diamonds in the Rough: The Gentrification of Rural Washington.” Through the lens of a rural Washington community, the presenter explains how “class blindness” protects those with more privilege from fully recognizing social class inequalities.

On March 25, CBC and Camerata Musica will host the Vieness Piano Duo of Los Angeles in the CBC Theatre beginning at 7:30 p.m. With impeccable timing, Vijay Venkatesh and Eva Schaumkell have captivated audiences with a wide-ranging repertoire. Visit cameratamusica.com for information on seating.
