Christmas is a Holiday Tradition in Downtown Kennewick

Kennewick’s historic business district is a beloved and essential part of many Tri-City Citizens’ holiday traditions. It’s home to dozens of specialty boutiques and shops, and you can find something for everyone on your list. Clothing, books, plants, novelties, toys, décor, and beauty and personal services can be purchased for all of your gift-giving needs.

Specialty food items such as coffee, wine and baked goods can be sourced from local businesses for your holiday table and parties. Make downtown Kennewick a part of your holiday traditions on Plaid Friday, Nov. 25; Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26; and the Hometown Holiday Parade on Dec. 3.

You might be familiar with Small Business Saturday, but have you heard of Plaid Friday? Plaid Friday celebrates the diversity and creativity of local and independent businesses. It’s a fun and enjoyable alternative to the big-box stores’ “Black Friday” consumer frenzy. Select downtown Kennewick businesses will be rewarding plaid-wearing shoppers with special discounts and door prizes. So plan to wear plaid all day on Nov. 25 and shop local in downtown Kennewick!

Shop Small Saturday on Nov. 26 supports small, independent businesses and calls attention to the valuable and distinct contributions they make to their communities and the economy. The Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership invites you to “shop small” on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Santa Claus is coming to town on Dec. 3, and he’s bringing holiday magic to downtown Kennewick with the Hometown Holiday Parade. Come downtown and experience the magic of the holidays with this old-fashioned parade welcoming Santa and featuring holiday-themed floats, police and fire vehicles, and entertaining characters. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and proceeds through the historic heart of the downtown area along Kennewick Ave. from Dayton to Auburn Streets. After the parade, join Santa at Santa Square for festive activities, treats and selfies.
