Eagle Cap Excursion Train Ready to Roll
Looking for things to do in the beautiful Northwest? Now is the time to visit the Eagle Cap Excursion Train website, eaglecaptrainrides.com, review the schedule and book tickets for the upcoming season of scenic excursions.
The train winds along the shores of the Grande Ronde River, into the ruggedly beautiful canyon, and travels up the wild and scenic Wallowa River before returning to the depot in Elgin. Whether you’re a rail fan, a nature and wildlife enthusiast, a history buff or just a vacationer looking for a relaxing way to enjoy the spectacular scenery, you’ll love your ride on the Eagle Cap Excursion Train.
“Offering the experience and making great memories for those who ride is what keeps us going,” said Ed Spaulding, volunteer engineer and board president of the Friends of the Joseph Branch, the non-profit organization that runs the excursions.
This year’s schedule offers 20 scenic rides, including two reenactments of wild-west train robberies, a Father’s Day lunch beside the river, and some short rides for families who want to pack a lot into their day. A ride with a Bavarian theme is scheduled for September 21, to get everyone in the mood for Oregon’s Alpenfest in Joseph, Ore.
