Ione Offers Family-Friendly Fourth of July

Escape the city and head to Ione, Ore., for a small-town celebration this Fourth of July. The day starts with a 5K Fun Run/Walk at 7 a.m. and a hearty Fireman’s Breakfast from 7 to 10. A parade will start at 1 p.m., and other events throughout the day include bingo, a car show, a fish pond, and a talent show at 4:30, open to everyone.

Knockerball Tri-Cities will be back this year with free laser tag, putt-putt golf, “connect four,” axe throwing and more. Artist Laurie Ellis will do free face painting and glitter tattoos, and food vendors will be available.

Live music will kick off at 2 p.m. with upbeat blues by Luke Basil. At 3:30, ZG3 — the Zac Grooms Trio — will bring you some down-to-earth country. The FrogHollow Band will take the stage around 6:30 p.m.

Headlining the celebration will be River Divide, with classic country, pop and rock. The concert is free, but bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

To end the day, enjoy a fireworks show from a hill overlooking the town. You’ll want to spend the entire day in the park for all the family fun and spectacular fireworks.
