Othello Hosts PRCA Rodeo, Demo Derby
- September 8, 2023
The Grand Entry and the famous Wild Cow Ride will open the 74th Othello PRCA Rodeo, to be held on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15 and 16, at 8 p.m. Rodeo events include bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, team roping, tie-down and breakaway roping, barrel racing and bull riding. The stock contractor will be Flying 5 Big Bend. And JJ Harrison, one of rodeo’s best entertainers, will have you engaged and laughing as he keeps the contestants safe.
Steve Kenyon, the announcer with more than 25 years of experience, brings depth and color to the events. The EhCapa Bareback Riders, ages 8 to 19, will be thrilling audiences with a special performance highlighting their bareback and bridle-less riding skills. And Dangerous Danny Newman and Miles Barry will put themselves between the bulls and the cowboys as this year’s bullfighters.
The Othello Demolition Derby is Wednesday, Sept. 13, with time trials starting at 5:30 p.m. The Demo Derby is offering increased payouts this year — $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place and $1,000 for third — in addition to trophies. The “Mad Dog” Award for the craziest driver is a trophy and $1,500.
