Gesa Power House Theatre will host an unforgettable night with Kommuna Lux on Friday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. Supported by the Western States Arts Federation and the National Endowment for the Arts, this high-energy band from Odesa, Ukraine, will transport you to the heart of the Black Sea with its unique blend of klezmer, Balkan, urban chanson, and Ukrainian folk music.
Kommuna Lux began performing as flash mobs in Odesa’s markets and streets before rising to fame on national stages. Since the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the band has toured Europe, raising thousands of dollars in support of their homeland. Now, they’re back in the U.S., sharing their playful, passionate music and irresistible joy with audiences everywhere.
The multicultural port city of Odesa is world-famous for its significant Jewish culture and for being the birthplace of the urban chanson genre. The streets are rich with nostalgia and a bohemian Black Sea coastal vibe. You’ll fall in love with the spirit of Odesa and the magic of Kommuna Lux.
Don’t miss this chance to experience Kommuna Lux live. Reserved seating tickets start at $30 for adults and $20 for students, and are available online at phtww.org or by calling the box office at (509) 529-6500.
