RadCon Returns to Pasco Red Lion
It’s hard to believe that the RadCon science-fiction convention in the Tri-Cities is in its 32nd year and still going strong. The organizers of RadCon 8C in February are pleased to be running at full capacity this year, and are ready to let their hair down and have some fun on Presidents Day weekend, Feb. 17-19, at the Red Lion Hotel in Pasco. The theme is “Forest Folk.”
The very talented Ignition, a Medieval fire troupe, is celebrating 15 years entertaining at RadCon and has planned a very special event. If you have never seen a fire show —— and even if you have — you’ll find it breathtaking. It’s going to be more exciting than ever.
The art show brings artists from all over North America. And this year’s live event will include masquerade, rave dancing both Friday and Saturday nights, talent shows and many panel rooms where authors, publishers and artists give insight into their crafts. Guests of honor include media guest Patrick Kelly, artist Jose L. Marin and gamer Gordon Alfred.
There’ll be KidCon games and arts-and-crafts for young and old. There’ll be RPG (role-playing games), miniature games, various board games and card games. MTG (Magic-The Gathering) will be featured with drafts throughout the weekend plus standard, commander, sealed and two-headed games, along with Dungeons and Dragons and many other tabletop games. About 20 game tables will be active at any given time.
Vendors from all over the Northwest will be present. Don’t miss Wing 2, where many vendors have rooms, as well as the upstairs adult area for those wanting to relax after a long day of RadCon activities. And RadCon 8C, “Forest Folk,” will have much, much more, so you won’t want to miss out.
There are no “day passes,” as attendance is for members of the RadCon Guild, which has a set year-long membership fee, payable online or at the door. Membership for adults starts at $45 online until Feb. 1, and the hours for at-the-door registration are noon to 10 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Guild membership gives you the perks of being able to attend the convention, participate in guild functions and hold office in the guild. There is no additional fee beyond guild membership to attend the RadCon SciFi Convention.
