Weekend @ the Blues Coming in Early August

Four years ago, a group of citizens and Northwest cowboys hatched a plan to reestablish an annual festival in Milton-Freewater. Research concluded that every major event in the Northwest started with a pro rodeo, which had never been done in the town before. Cowboys were brought in from four states and Canada, with no pay, to help set the footing for years to come.

This year the Weekend @ the Blues Music Festival features the bands FrogHollow, Fastlane and Early Morning Traffic. These highly popular bands will bring country, rockabilly and rock ’n roll from the 1960s through the 80s.

Family fun also includes a rodeo, horse show, Elks parade, Walchli watermelon-eating contest, Pocket I Net pretty baby contest, the Kiwanis beer and wine garden, the “Guns ’n Hoses” fun run, vendors, a city-wide yard sale, dancing, the rodeo after party, the firemen’s water fight, and much more. The rodeo features both Professional Bull Riders (PBR) bulls and National Finals Rodeo (NFR) quality stock.

Weekend @ the Blues is always the first weekend in August at the foothills of the Blue Mountains in Milton-Freewater, Ore. Come join the fun Aug. 2-3 where the Wild West meets the bands!
