Yakima Venues Will Feature Unique Events

The Capitol Theatre’s Global Voices Series is highlighting the voices of artists from around the world who also represent the cultures of the Yakima Valley.

On Friday, April 25, in the 4th Street Theatre, the series will feature Las Guaracheras, a sextet of female musicians fusing salsa and Latin jazz. Coming to Yakima from Cali, Colombia, the ensemble’s mission is to uplift the female voice in Afro-Latin music. Along the way, audiences will have a lot of fun. A pre-show salsa lesson will get everyone ready to enjoy the evening to the fullest.

On Thursday, May 15, the Capitol Theatre will host a uniquely Yakima event. “The Aunties” showcases the stories of a select trio of women of the Yakama Nation and the region. These are the caretakers of the community, and they will be sharing their stories in their own way. This is a live storytelling and documentary series created specifically to honor these women and their voices.
