Coulee City Kicks Off the Rodeo Season
It’s been 70 years and still going strong! The Last Stand Rodeo in Coulee City will be held on May 27, 28, and 29 — Memorial Day weekend. The PRCA action will feature trick rider Haley Proctor plus rodeo clowns and bullfighters, “Mutton Bustin’,” a beer garden and the popular cook shack. The historic Ted Rice Rodeo Arena allows you to be so close to the action you can feel the earth pound.
This year, the PRCA rodeo action begins on Friday at 7 p.m., replacing the Friday-night Bullerama of previous years. The Cowboy Breakfast begins on Saturday at 7 a.m. at the Brickhouse. At 8 a.m., the gun sounds for the start of the 35th annual Cow Pie Jog. But watch your step, because it’s called the Cow Pie Jog for a reason! The Last Stand Parade on Main Street starts at 11 a.m.
On Saturday at 7 p.m., enjoy more bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, team roping, tie-down roping, women’s breakaway roping, barrel racing and bull riding. On Sunday, the Slack Time Rodeo starts at 8 a.m., and the final pro rodeo competition will begin at 5 p.m.
