“Star Dust: From Bach to Bowie” Presented at Yakima’s Capitol Theatre

The final event in this year’s Capitol Best Series at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima is a dance performance titled “Star Dust: From Bach to Bowie”. It’s presented by Complexions Contemporary Ballet which is a New York City dance company that is one of the most recognized, diverse, inclusive and respected in the world.

Complexions was founded in 1994 by master choreographer Dwight Rhoden and the legendary dancer Desmond Richardson. Their performances are a breathtaking mix of dance styles and athletic intensity, seamlessly fusing ballet, contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop. “Star Dust: From Bach to Bowie” showcases two exhilarating dance pieces celebrating musical masters from two distinct periods in history.

“Bach 25” is an exploration of love and alliances, with music by Johann Sebastian and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. It merges contemporary dance with ballet techniques.

“Star Dust” is a tribute to David Bowie’s glam period and showcases his iconic hits including “Space Oddity” and “Life on Mars.” It’s a spectacular, transfixing dance extravaganza with glam rock-inspired costumes.

The performance is made possible by Heritage Bank, Red and Carolyn Ramsey, and other Capitol Best sponsors. Performances are Friday and Saturday, May 27 and 28, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are available online at capitoltheatre.org or by calling the box office at (509) 853-ARTS (2787).
