M5: The Mexican Brass

July 15 @ 7:30 PM

On July 15 and 16, the Arts Center and the Summer Theatre program at Columbia Basin College will present M5 Mexican Brass for two concerts outdoors on the CBC Amphitheatre’s Diane C. Hoch Stage. During the pandemic of the past two summers, CBC made upgrades to the performance space, including terraced seating and the ability to have a level for tables and wheelchair-accessible seating. A series of fabric panels across the back now provide shade for patrons and performers as the summer sun is setting. These improvements will make the entire experience more comfortable for audiences and performers alike.

M5 Mexican Brass is a brass quintet consisting of two trumpets, a French horn, a trombone and a tuba. It’s Latin America’s most successful brass quintet, just back from a European tour. A number of years ago, M5 Mexican Brass also performed at Pasco High School as part of the Community Concerts lineup.

The Group
The band’s recipe is a mix of music-making and humor. Combining their skills at virtuosic chamber music in all styles, non-stop interaction with the audience, inborn showmanship, inimitable Latin American charm, and their very own sound, their concerts are unique musical-theatrical experiences.

Now it its 17th year of existence, the group has performed well over a thousand concerts spanning five continents. Tours through the U.S., Canada, Colombia, Algeria, China, Chile, the Bahamas and Germany brought M5 wide international recognition and established them as Mexican cultural ambassadors.

Many of M5’s activities are dedicated to education via school concerts, workshops and master classes. This dynamic quintet has performed more than 500 educational concerts for approximately 200,000 children in Mexico, the United States and Canada. An increasing number of contemporary composers write new works for them. Their website is full of videos, pictures and biographical information and gives a good look and listen to what you will see and hear this month. Visit m5mexicanbrass.com.

The Concerts
The concerts on the 15th and 16th begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, available online now at columbiabasin.tix.com, are $30 for adult general admission and $25 for seniors and children. You can also reserve a table for eight guests, which includes table service provided by Castle Catering. For all other seating, you are welcome to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, as well as your own refreshments.

There will also be kettle corn and lemonade vendors on site, so you may purchase refreshments from them as well. Please see cbcartscenter.com for additional poster information.
This group is fun, interactive and theatrical, and features some of the finest brass players in the world today. Again, you’re encouraged to visit M5’s own website to learn more.
