The Father: A Tragic Farce

April 12 @ 7:30 PM

Little Theatre Play is a Family’s Story

In April, the Little Theatre of Walla Walla will present the third production in its 2024-25 season, “Spotlighting 80 Years.” This play, “The Father,” is a tragic farce written by Florian Zeller and translated by Christopher Hampton. The Little Theatre production is directed by Douglas Carlsen together with assistant director Jacob Kuwahara.

In this play, the character André, a retired dancer living with his adult daughter and her husband, tries to make sense of his changing circumstances. He begins to doubt his loved ones, his own mind and even the fabric of his reality. “The Father” is a sobering and realistic family story and an unsentimental, emotionally intense look at the world from André’s perspective. The play is a darkly humorous and deeply poignant look at aging, dementia and love.

The cast includes Kevin Cahill as André, Jessica Morlan as Anne, Alfred Chang as Pierre, Eden Vixie as Laura, Amanda Wuest as the character simply called “Woman” and Ethan Newton as “Man.”

Evening performances are on April 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19 at 7:30 p.m., and there will be Sunday matinees on April 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students, and can be purchased online at ltww.org.
