The Little Theatre of Walla Walla will present The Shawshank Redemption in January and February. It was adapted for the stage by Owen O’Neil and Dave Johns, based on the novella by Stephen King, and is directed by Jeff Schlicher and Gene Dahl.
When Andy Dufresne is convicted of murder and sentenced to life in the notorious Shawshank prison, he must find a way to keep hope alive by using his wits and forging friendships. The Shawshank Redemption brings to the stage the story of resilience made famous by the acclaimed 1994 film.
The cast includes William Calhoun as Andy Dufresne, Tim Meliah as Red, Topher Murphy as Warden Stammas, Jonathan Grant as Hadley, Barry Jenkins as Boggs Diamond, Douglas Carlsen as Brooksie, Tom O’Donnell as Entwistle, Benjamin Smith as Rooster, Alex Motamedi-Ponnaz as Rico, Jacob Kuwahara as Tommy Williams, Eric Endres as Dawkins and Mark Franklin as Pinky. Jim Brogan. Craig Woodard and Kody Register portray guards, prisoners and a parole officer.
Evening performances at 7:30 p.m. are on Jan. 19, 20, 26, 27, and Feb. 2 and 3. Sunday matinees on Jan. 28 and Feb. 4 are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students, and will be available online at ltww.org starting Jan. 8.
