The Little Theatre of Walla Walla will present the Shakespearian-themed farce Leading Ladies, opening on Jan. 30.
In this hilarious comedy, down-on-their-luck English actors Jack and Leo are performing “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long-lost English relatives, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved nephews.
When they get to York, however, they learn that the “nephews” are actually nieces! Romantic entanglements abound, and Leo falls head-over-petticoat in love with the old lady’s vivacious niece, Meg. Meg is engaged to a local minister, but she finally gets a taste of the wider world when she meets “Maxine and Stephanie.”
The cast includes Jon Loney as Leo, Nathan Loomer as Jack, Emily Loney as Meg, Lola Bloom as Audrey, Paul McLain as Doc, Richard Wallace as Duncan and Micah Aguilar as Butch.
Performances are at 7 p.m. on Jan. 30 and 31 and Feb. 6, 7, 13 and 14. Matinee performances are at 2 p.m. on Feb. 1 and 15. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for veterans and seniors and $15 for students. They’re available online at ltww.org.
