Learn Creative Pottery Techniques at the Bunkhouse

Have you always wanted to try making pottery? Did you take up the hobby years ago but no longer have the space or equipment? The Bunkhouse Artisan Studios in the historic Mercer Building in downtown Prosser has plenty of room and everything you need to be creative.

Beginners can sign up for a two-hour “Give it a Try” class and learn wheel throwing or hand-building with clay from Megan Tyler, or sign up for a layering glazes workshop taught by Brad and Melodie Smith.

Brad will also teach a six-week beginners’ course starting Jan. 20 that covers everything you need to know to start making beautiful pottery. Clay, glazes and firing pieces are included. Students taking classes are given open studio time, and private lessons are available.

If you’re already well-versed in pottery-making but need a place to do it, the Bunkhouse Studios offers monthly memberships and day passes. Member hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and noon to 8 on Sunday.

If you want to hold a meeting, a class or private party, the multi-use hall at the Bunkhouse is the place to host it in Prosser. For scheduling, pricing and more information, visit bunkhousestudios.com.
