Capitol Theatre Hosts Two Extraordinary Shows

Two exciting events spice up April at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima. The first is one of the most memorable titles in film and musical theatre, My Fair Lady. Written by lyricist Alan Jay Lerner and composer Frederick Loewe, the musical is based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion. Lerner and Loewe are known for a number of other classic titles including Brigadoon and Camelot.

In its time, My Fair Lady was Broadway’s longest-running musical, followed by four Broadway revivals. The Capitol Theatre production is based on the 2018 Broadway revival directed by Bartlett Sher. Tony Award-winning Sher also directed the most recent Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof, which audiences enjoyed in last season’s Capitol Best series.

Vancouver-based Scrap Arts Music brings us Children of Metropolis. With a high-energy performance using more than 145 hand-made instruments, this concert fuses a heart-pounding sound with a retro-futuristic vibe.

Enjoy My Fair Lady at the Capitol theatre on Wednesday and Thursday, April 10 and 11, and Scrap Arts Music on Friday, April 26. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale online at capitoltheatre.org and at the box office at (509) 853-ARTS.
