The Down Syndrome Association of the Mid-Columbia (DSAMC) will host its 20th annual Buddy Walk at Howard Amon Park in Richland on Saturday, Oct. 3. The fundraising event will bring together individuals and families to celebrate and promote awareness, acceptance and inclusion of those with Down syndrome.
The walk has become a well-known Tri-Cities event with its creative activities, fun games, live entertainment, music, raffle prizes, local food and a spirited one-mile walk around the park.
You can preregister for this year’s Buddy Walk online at dsamc.org, or register at the event beginning at 10 a.m. Each registration includes all the festivities and a tee-shirt.
Funds raised from the walk support DSAMC programs including lecture series, workshops and monthly events and groups for kids, siblings, parents and friends. The programs are designed with the community in mind, and anyone — not just those with Down syndrome — can attend.
Funds are also offered for emergency medical needs, classroom support and even scholarships. Additionally, DSAMC regularly donates to the Children’s Developmental Center, the Arc of Tri-Cities and other nonprofit organizations to expand the reach of positive awareness, acceptance and inclusion.
