Last Stand Rodeo: So Close You May Get a Li’l Dirty!

Coulee City will celebrate the 72nd year of the Last Stand Rodeo on Memorial Day weekend, May 24, 25 and 26.

This is one of the few events where you can feel the ground vibrate as 2,000‐pound bulls pound the earth only feet in front of you. The close-up PRCA rodeo action includes rodeo clown and barrelman Kevin Higley, and there’ll be Mutton Bustin’ and a nearby beer garden and cook shack.

The rodeo kicks off on Friday at 7 p.m. The Saturday-morning cowboy breakfast starts at 7 a.m. at the Brick House next to the rodeo grounds. The 36th annual Cow Pie Jog starts at 8 a.m. (be sure to mind your manures) and the parade on Main Street begins at 11.

Saturday’s rodeo performance begins at 7 p.m. with bull riding, bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, tie¬down roping and girls’ breakaway roping.

Sunday Slack at the rodeo grounds starts at 8 a.m., and your final chance to enjoy the Last Stand Rodeo with all its events starts at 5 p.m.

The Coulee City Last Stand Rodeo is held at the historic Ted Rice Rodeo Arena. For tickets, schedules and information, visit laststandrodeo.com.
