Winter Recreation at Anthony Lakes!

Tucked away high in the Elkhorn Range of the Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon is a little nonprofit ski area, Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort. It might be a small as ski areas go, but Anthony Lakes has some big mountain skiing and riding while boasting a quaint, down-home feel. Does it get much better?

With just under a thousand vertical feet, Anthony Lakes is small but mighty. With a base elevation of 7,100 feet, Anthony Lakes slopes have some of the best powder snow in the region. Seasoned skiers and riders enjoy the variety of on-trail and off-piste adventure, while those who are brand new to the sport can learn in the more forgiving beginner area called Alice’s Wonderland.

Fifth and Sixth Grade Sundays – With an emphasis on kids and families, Anthony Lakes offers free skiing for 5th and 6th graders during the “5th and 6th Grade Ski Free” program. Open to all 5th and 6th grade students, this eight-week program offers a free lift ticket, rental, and lesson to the student, while an accompanying adult can get a $25 lift ticket. It’s a great way to get the family on the mountain. The program runs every Sunday from Jan. 4 to Feb. 22. Just bring a school ID or current report card and show up before 9:30 a.m.

Thirty Dollar Thursdays – Skiers can take advantage of mid-week skiing with “Thirty Dollar Thursdays.” Lift tickets are just $30 every operating Thursday of the season. Anthony Lakes operates on a Thursday-to-Sunday schedule, so Thursday turns are fresh.

Taste of Nordic – Anthony Lakes’ annual Taste of Nordic event will be on Sunday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local food and beverage vendors will be set up throughout the cross-country trails, offering a taste of delicious eats and drinks. This family-friendly event is one not to miss.

Anthony Lakes Spring Break Camp – Be sure to extend your stay for the annual Anthony Lakes Spring Break Camp for kids, March 23 -27. Kids receive five days of skiing and riding for just $250. The program includes a lift ticket, lesson and rentals each day (that’s just $50 a day)!
