Oregon’s Eagle Cap Excursion Train launches its 2026 season on May 9, with 22 rides from May through October.
The train follows the Grande Ronde and Wallowa rivers, offering views of timbered ridges, rippling water and rugged basalt cliffs. The scenery receives top ranking from passengers, but great food and friendly hosts add to the experience. Four scheduled train robberies, enacted by the High Country Outlaws, will provide extra excitement.
Rides depart from and return to the depot in Elgin, just 20 miles north of La Grande on Oregon Highway 82.
